Welcome back Dolphins!

In English, we have been working on grammar and reading comprehension this week. We have been looking at the four different types of sentences, with a focus on commands. We found that commands include bossy verbs, telling us what to do. We looked for these in recipes and in a piece of fiction writing and then wrote commands to instruct others about playing sports, our morning routine and going out for break. In Mathematics, we have had a focus on number and place value. We have been problem solving to improve mastery of this topic. The activities have involved, making different amounts of money only using £1, 10p and 1p coins, using single digit numbers to create the smallest and biggest numbers that we can and writing all the facts that we know about a number. In French, we are learning about family. This week we learned how to say me, mum, dad, brother and sister in French. We will continue learning how to say other family members next week. In PE, we worked on basketball skills with Coach Clayton and did travelling and balancing on mats and benches during gymnastics.

A reading comprehension and an arithmetic paper have been sent home today. These are optional, but if returned to school will be marked.
