Dolphins have begun their Run to Rio!

This week signalled 100 days until the Olympic Games begin in Rio and we have begun our Run to Rio with the aim that the whole school will run a mile a day in the lead up to the games. This has been tiring but the children are really enjoying it!

In English we have been busy writing our letters this week using the plans which we wrote previously to support our ideas. We have worked really hard to make sure they include all of the correct features and will write them up as a final copy next week. We have also been designing aliens and describing them using a variety of adjectives to describe their colour, texture and size. In Mathematics, we have been working on addition and subtraction for most of the week. We have been practising using the column method for both operations, with an attempt to borrow and carry the tens. We have also worked on finding fractions of a number using the ‘pizza’ method to work them out and will continue with this next week. In Topic, we have been looking at the work of Andy Warhol. We discussed some of the ‘pop’ art work he produced and then replicated his ideas whilst colouring a variety of everyday objects in pencil, crayon and oil pastel as well as having a go at our own version using Dazzle. In French, we continued learning about the family, drawing and labelling the members of our family. In PE, we have been practising our throwing and catching so that we can apply these skills to a game of Kwik cricket in future weeks.
