Have a brilliant week Dolphins!

Unfortunately, the Kwik cricket festival was cancelled for Dolphins on Monday morning. This has however been rescheduled for June 15th and a letter has been sent out today to let parents and guardians know of the arrangements.

In English, we boxed up the ideas from The Very Hungry Caterpillar to help us to remember the sequence of events in the story. We then developed plans for our version of the story and started a first draft copy of these. We aim to write them into story books after the half term break. In Mathematics, we have been working on 2D and 3D shapes. We have looked at properties of shapes and identified 3D shapes in the environment. We have also used mirrors to identify lines of symmetry on a variety of shapes and outlines.  At the end of the week, we compared shapes, looking at the similarities and differences between 2D and 3D shapes as well as similar shapes such as a cube and a cuboid. In Topic, we have had a science focus this week. We learnt about the six stages of life and then conducted an investigation to see whether you get quicker at a task as you get older. We tested children from different year groups using a variety of activities, from making a jigsaw to doing 10 star jumps. Our results were varied and we decided that it depends on the activity as to whether you get quicker at it.

Further information

Children have been asked to record something which they do in the holidays in a homework book sent home today. This does not have to be writing, it could be drawings, pictures or even a story map to show the activities they have done. Have a lovely week.
