Welcome back Dolphins!

In English, we wrote diary entries to inform others about what we did during our half term break. We sequenced the events chronologically and used time conjunctions in our work as well as adjectives and adverbs to add more detail. On Wednesday afternoon, an ambulance visited school and so we designed health and safety posters to tell other children how to be safe at school. In Mathematics, we have been working on measures this week. We focused on measuring a variety of objects in centimetres and metres at the beginning of the week and were then set a ‘scavenger hunt’ to find items in the playground and on the field which were a particular length and weight. In Science, we continued work on animals and humans, by looking at a healthy diet and different food groups. First, we created food chains for humans and for a variety of animals. We then designed a meal plan for a day, based on the portions of each food group that we should eat each day. In PE, we did some sports day practice and refined our skills of throwing a javelin. In RE, we looked at sacred places. We thought about how Narnia was special to Lucy in The Chronicles of Narnia books and then thought of our own sacred places and why they are special to us. We also did a virtual tour of a church and recorded, as if looking through a keyhole, what we see in a church which makes it a sacred place.
