Great effort at the football festival Dolphins!

This week Dolphins attended a football festival at Campsmount. They worked really well as a team and even though they didn’t win, their spirits were high. Unfortunately, the cricket festival had to be cancelled due to the rain.

In English we completed our versions of The Very Hungry Caterpillar story. We were able to recall the repeated language and sequence of the story in our writing and adapted the animal and the food that is eaten by the creature. We also spent time typing up our diary entries to recall events from half term. In Mathematics, we had an addition and subtraction focus this week. We answered a number of sums for fluency, such as addition and subtraction of a single digit or two digit numbers, and then applied our knowledge of these operations to answer a range of statements and problems. In Topic, we did butterfly artwork. We were given half of a picture of a butterfly and needed to complete the other side using an array of different media such as Dazzle, watercolours, poster paint and pastels. We then used the butterflies as inspiration and designed our own butterfly which we will stitch together. In Computing, we learnt how to create a code to make characters hide and reveal when a specific button is pressed on the keyboard. In PE, due to the cancellation of Sports Day this week, we spent time practicing the events which we will take part in on the rescheduled date next week.
