Weekly news - 18th March

Posted 17/3/2016

Firstly, a BIG congratulations to all the dancers who took part in the Campsmount competition. You made all staff and parents proud and finished a fantastic 2nd place!  Well done all and we hope you have inspired a few more children to get involved next year!

Just a reminder to all parents, that Eagles class assembly is tomorrow Friday 18th at 1.30pm! We are looking forward to seeing lots of you there to enjoy sharing our work over the last term. In addition, we hope you can join us in our Easter celebration in church next Wednesday morning at 9.15am. The children have spent a lot of time working on their performances this week and are looking forward to both the assembly and the service.

Alongside writing our assembly and the Easter service, Eagles have been brushing up on the grammar, punctuation and spelling. We have identified a number of areas which need revision including prepositions; sentences that describe determiners and subordinate clauses. We will be target teaching these areas of the coming weeks but any work you could do at home to support children in these areas would help a great deal. The bbc bitesize website might be useful to you in helping revise this areas

Next week we welcome back our teaching student Mrs Beedle who will be continuing with her placement throughout next half-term. We have a busy week planned, with sport-relief being  and the Easter service but we hope to squeeze in some reading SATs paper booster work to identify any areas we can target next half-term in the run up to SATS. Many parents have been keen to know how they can support their child in the lead up to SATs and we have been giving all parents the same advice: to read this blog and support any identified gaps, to help ensure children manage their own time and complete their homework on time, to practice weekly spellings every day and to make sure children get a good nights sleep and a wholesome breakfast!
