This week in Lions Class...

Posted 6/5/2016

In English this week we have been writing our own myths. We learnt about some more of the Greek gods in order to include them in our myths and then planned by boxing up the sections of the myth. The children have been focusing on using paragraphs, as well as imaginative description. We have also looked at other myths, such as ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’. In Maths we have been focusing on addition and subtraction. The children have practised column method and have been thinking about word problems. We have practised finding the key information and deciding which operation we need to use to solve the problem. In Topic this week we have been learning about Brazil, and in particular Rio de Janeiro as it is the host country for the Olympics. The children completed their own research into various aspects such as population, famous citizens and famous landmarks. Hopefully, we will use this information to make posters.

The learning log this week is ‘Rio de Janeiro’. Maths homework is online and spellings have been sent home.
