Modern Foreign Language

The MFL lead it Mrs Peart Minter.

At Kirk Smeaton C of E Primary School, it is our vision that all of our pupils develop a love for the learning of a foreign language from the moment they join us.

We begin in Early Years and Foundation Stage with fun interactive songs, games and rhymes and then move to a slightly more structured experience of French when children join Key Stage 1. This forms a firm foundation for when our children move into Key Stage 2 and begin the more formal statutory French lessons involving lots of speaking and listening, reading and writing.

At the heart of our vision is the aim that all children leave our school and enter Key Stage 3 with a love of language and a desire to enhance their knowledge even further as they move through secondary school.

We have adopted the French scheme 'Language Angels' and use this as a basis for our teaching throughout our school.
